A dog, known for its loyalty, has been the latest trend among the uptown crowd. There are more than 150 dog breeds, divided into 8 classes; sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non- sporting, herding, and miscellaneous.

A dog, known for its loyalty, has been the latest trend among the uptown crowd. There are more than 150 dog breeds, divided into 8 classes; sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non- sporting, herding, and miscellaneous.

Ranchities buy varieties and expensive dogs which are rare in the political boundary of our country. Gone are days when a good hound, a Labrador or a pug fulfilled the fantasies. For now breeds like Akita Inu and Tibetan Mastiff or say a Siberian Husky are the dream dogs of collector.

“We have four of them and have a separate 3BHK house that has centralised AC for these dogs,” claimed a local businessman on condition of anonymity. None of the breeds name above would cost you in thousands. Akita, the latest in the league, is a very powerful and dominating breed.

The weight of male dog is around 27-41 kgs and female 23-36 kg. This breed is very rarely sell in India as its very expensive and this breed is only habitat of cold regions. The current rate of this breed is around Rs. 1, 20,000/-.

The life of this breed is around 10 years. Surjan Sarkar, a vet doctor, told News Wing Akita is is very unique breed and cant be maintained and afforded by commoners. Sometimes during weather changes or during summer such dogs can’t sustain for a long time and sometime people cant handle this dog as it is very dominating.

He also told that this dog is only dominate to other strangers but friend with the family members. By different sources we found that there is one dog of the breed in Ranchi Akita.

“The breed was imported from Japan for a buyer. He has been kept very secretly because of his uniqueness and cost,” claimed Manoj, the seller. Other lesser expensive breeds like the Grey Den and others have a lot of takers in the city.
