New Delhi : श्रीलंका के दिग्गज क्रिकेटर कुमार संगकारा ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आइसीसी) के चेयरमैन पद के लिए सौरव गांगुली का समर्थन करते हुए कहा है कि भारतीय क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) के अध्यक्ष का ‘कुशाग्र क्रिकेट दिमाग’ और प्रशासक के रूप में अनुभव उन्हें इस भूमिका के लिए ‘काफी उपयुक्त’ दावेदार बनाता है.
संगकारा ने स्वीकार किया कि वह गांगुली के बड़े समर्थक हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान की अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानसिकता है जो महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर रहते हुए पक्षपात रहित रहने के लिए जरूरी है.

मेरिलबोन क्रिकेट क्लब (एमसीसी) के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष संगकारा ने ‘इंडिया टुडे’ से कहा, ‘‘मुझे लगता है कि सौरव गांगुली बदलाव ला सकता है. दादा (गांगुली) का बड़ा प्रशंसक हूं, सिर्फ क्रिकेटर के रूप में उनके दर्जे के कारण नहीं बल्कि मुझे लगता है कि उनके पास कुशाग्र क्रिकेट दिमाग है. ’’
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘वह दिल से क्रिकेट के सर्वश्रेष्ठ हित के बारे में सोचता है और जब आप आइसीसी में हो तो यह सिर्फ इसलिए नहीं बदलना चाहिए कि आप बीसीसीआई अध्यक्ष हो या इंग्लैंड एवं वेल्स क्रिकेट बोर्ड के या श्रीलंका क्रिकेट या किसी अन्य बोर्ड के.’’
संगकारा ने कहा, ‘‘आपकी मानसिकता अंतरराष्ट्रीय होनी चाहिए और आप जहां से आए तो वहां को लेकर भेदभाव नहीं होना चाहिए, जैसे कि मैं भारतीय, श्रीलंकाई, आस्ट्रेलियाई या इंग्लैंड का हूं. उसे समझना चाहिए कि मैं क्रिकेटर हूं और वही कर रहा हूं जो क्रिकेट खेलने वाले सभी देशों के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ है.’’

गांगुली में रिश्ते बनाने की क्षमता
श्रीलंका के पूर्व कप्तान ने कहा कि गांगुली में रिश्ते बनाने की क्षमता है जो क्रिकेट की संचालन संस्था में प्रभावी पद के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है.
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘बीसीसीआई अध्यक्ष बनने से पहले भी मैंने उसका काम देखा है, प्रशासन और कोचिंग से भी पहले, उसने किस तरह दुनिया भर के खिलाड़ियों से रिश्ते बनाए, एमसीसी क्रिकेट समिति में उसका कार्यकाल.’’
बीसीसीआई के पूर्व अध्यक्ष शशांक मनोहर ने इस महीने की शुरुआत में आइसीसी के चेयरमैन पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया. चुनाव होने तक हांगकांग के इमरान ख्वाजा को अंतरिम चेयरमैन बनाया गया है.
संगकारा एकमात्र पूर्व अंतरराष्ट्रीय कप्तान नहीं हैं जिन्होंने गांगुली का समर्थन किया है. दक्षिण अफ्रीका के पूर्व कप्तान और क्रिकेट दक्षिण अफ्रीका के क्रिकेट निदेशक ग्रीम स्मिथ ने भी इस पद के लिए गांगुली का समर्थन किया है. गांगुली ने हालांकि हाल में कहा था कि आइसीसी पद को लेकर उन्हें कोई जल्दबाजी नहीं है.
