While the party workers claim that the caste line politics within the organization is reason for the loss, the intellectual brigade of the party hints towards a different logic behind the loss – the trend of suppressing the front line leadership.

Ranchi: Name a leader and he/she was present at the Gomia by-poll and yet a pathetic defeat for the ruling party of the state. To add to the woes Sudesh Mahato, Supremo of AJSU Party, the only ally of the BJP also, lost to JMM.

This is not the first loss of the party in the state since the formation of the Government here. The sigh of relief for the party can be the municipal elections.

While the party workers claim that the caste line politics within the organization is reason for the loss, the intellectual brigade of the party hints towards a different logic behind the loss – the trend of suppressing the front line leadership.

The main team of BJP, though lead by an MP, is mostly governed by people who have never fought election at the lowest level or even been a strategist for a win. During the Gomia by-boll, the party did not leave any stone unaltered to win. Ministers and party leaders camped but words in air suggest that the puppeteers in command were not up to mark and inexperienced.

While the whole campaign was lead by Chief Minister Raghuwar Das, State Organizational Secretary Dharampal Singh and senior leader Anant Ojha, the second liner in the campaign lead to a flop show.

State Vice-president Aditya Sahu, who has interestingly forfeit his deposit and bail rights against Sudesh Mahato in past, was one of the main strategist for the win.

Pratul Shahdeo, party spokesperson, was the main aid to the candidate in Gomia, while state secretary Subodh Singh Guddu was in-charge of streamlining the arrangements. Both office bearers are known for their unnatural growth and inexperience in political affairs in the party. While, Shahdeo, earns his position because of his family background, Guddu in past was unable to fetch a proponent when he was fighting for District President of BJP.

To name others, Sunil Sahu, Swami Divendra Prasad, Rohit Lal Singh, Ramesh Handsa -unknown to most party workers, were some of the whip deputed by the party over the workers as per sources.

BJP Yuva Morcha workers led, by state president Amit Singh, that numbered in hundreds flocked the constituency. The team after returning from the tour met the CM, greeted him and shared their success story with Das.

A bit brushed up leaders like Sameer Oraon, Pradeep Varma and Ganesh Mishra, who have a RSS background, too could not save the sinking ship. The IT cell of the party also could not show any magic in the by-polls.

Party workers, however, have a firm belief that the ‘one’ caste politics in the party, ever since the formation of the government, has led to great resentment and the series of defeat is fallout of the same.

“People also claim that we have infringed with the EVM, we lose by-elections to prove them wrong,” concluded a BJP leader on lighter note.
