Bokaro one of the most preferable place
Bokaro: Jharkhand is a new most preferred destination for IT and BPO companies in country. Lucrative incentives offered by, both, state government under its BPO policy 2016 and Software Technology Park of India (STPI), is drawing good number of BPO companies in the cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro.
Companies like Aegis, Ison, Tata Business Support Service and BPO Convergence is already functional. Meanwhile other big brands like Nimbus IT Solution, Concentrix, MICA, Ritika, Shree Publication, Kraft Outdoor, Magnum BPO, Routmobile and Karvy have signed an agreement with state government to open its units by July in different location of state. “These BPO companies are coming up with 2500 seats and will go functional within July,” said U P Sah, director, state Information Technology Department. Coming up of these eight BPO companies will generate employment for about 7500 persons. Apart from the above, other two dozen BPO companies have shown interest, for which government officials are working. In coming two years span BPO and IT sector in Jharkhand will generate more than 40,000 jobs.
Ranchi, the state capital, already has about 40 IT and BPO companies operational. However, small towns like Bokaro, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur are also favorite destination for investors. Bokaro and Jamshedpur are having two BPO’s functional while many other companies have also shown interest in it. To facilitate growth of BPO and IT sector in Jharkhand, Union ministry of electronics and Information Technology is investing about Rs 100 crores in building STPI in Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamshedpur and Ranchi. Joint director, STPI, Siddarth Kumar Rai said “Ranchi STPI is functional while building in Jamshedpur, Deoghar and Dhanbad is under-construction.
The tender for construction of STPI building in 1.45 acres of land in BIADA of Bokaro will be floated by concerned department in May. Bokaro an industrial belt situated at about 100 kilometers from Ranchi is more in demand for BPO or IT companies”. Bokaro STPI building is having a construction area of 65,000 square feet and will be bigger than the Ranchi. It will be completed within 18 months, he added. Bokaro is an investor-friendly destination.
Many BPO and IT companies find Bokaro a most developing industrial corridor with existence of two steel plants, four power plants, a cement plant, coal mines, and huge coal bed methane (CBM) reserve. Siddarth said, “to attract BPO industry in state STPI has launched India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) in which interested companies are being provided Rs 1 lakh per seat as a capital Incentive. Meanwhile Jharkhand government under its comprehensive BPO Policy 2016 is providing GST reimbursement, rent reimbursement, employees training incentive, recruitment incentive and many others to BPO companies for setting up unit here”.
