Sanktodiya. भारतीय मजदूर संघ के पूर्व राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष एवं राष्ट्रीय महामंत्री दोनों पदों के दायित्व का निर्वहन करने वाले वैजनाथ राय का आज कोलकाता के अपोलो अस्पताल में सुबह लगभग 9 बजे कोरोना जैसी विमारी के कारण निधन हो गया. इस दुखद समाचार से पूरा बीएमएस परिवार शोकाकुल है.
भारतीय मजदूर संघ के प्रदेश महामंत्री उज्जवल मुखर्जी और प्रदेश बीएमएस के सचिव जय नाथ चौबे ने वैजनाथ राय के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त किया है। राय का निधन बीएमएस परिवार की अपूरणीय क्षति तो है ही साथ ही साथ देश के मजदूर आन्दोलन का एक स्तंम्भ गिर गया है, जिससे मजदूर आन्दोलन को बहुत बड़ा धक्का लगा है. वैजनाथ राय मूल रूप से उत्तर प्रदेश के आजम गढ़ के निवासी थे, किन्तु इनके पूर्वज कोलकता के बैरकपुर में रहते थे.

राय की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा उत्तर 24 परगना के फाजील नगर में हुई. कोलकाता से ही एमए एवं विधि की डिग्री हासिल की थी. शुरू में अध्यापन का कार्य करते हुए 1966-67 में बीएमएस के मजदूर आन्दोलन से जुड़े. इन्होंने जूट उद्योग के क्षेत्र में शुरुआती काल में बीएमएस का प्रभुत्व कायम किया और प्रदेश बीएमएस के महामंत्री का दायित्व का भी पालन किया. बाद में बीएमएस के राष्ट्रीय महामंत्री व राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष जैसे महत्वपूर्ण पदों को भी सुशोभित किया.
बीएमएस परिवार उन्हें अपनी विनम्र श्रध्दांजलि अर्पित करता है और दुःख की इस घड़ी में बीएमएस परिवार उनके शोकाकुल परिवार के सदस्यों को सांतावना देते हुए ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करता है कि ईश्वर परिवार के सदस्यों को दुख सहने की अदम्य शक्ति प्रदान करे, जिससे कि इस परिस्थितियों से बाहर निकल सके.

वैजनाथ राय ने देश के कई बड़े-बड़े राज्य से लेकर राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मजदूर आंदोलनों का सफल नेतृत्व किया. अपने सफलतम एवं दूरदर्शी नेतृत्व क्षमताओं से दूसरे विचार धारा वाले संगठनों के लोगों को भी अपने साथ जोड़ा और मजदूर आंदोलन में एक नई जागृति ला दी और यह साबित किया कि राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मजदूर आंदोलन में सभी को एक साथ मिलकर काम करना चाहिए ऐसा उदाहरण उन्हीं के नेतृत्व में देखने को मिला, जहां सभी विचार धारा के लोग मजदूर हितों की रक्षा के लिए एक मंच पर एक साथ दिखाई दी. जिसमें वैजनाथ राय जी की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही.
