Fire hit BSL production for few hours

Bokaro: Fire broke out in Coiler Number-2 of Hot Strip Mill under
Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has hit the steel production for few hours
here on Wednesday. Fire extinguishers took about an hour to douse the
flames and normalized the situation. Fortunately no one was injured.

The incident took place at about 6.30 am in Hot strip Mill. Lubricants
leaked from hydraulic system caught fire in this hot temperature is
said to be the reason behind occurrence of fire, said Manikant Dhan,
chief of communication, BSL. District disaster management authourity
(DDMA), Shakti Kumar and factory inspector inquired the incident.
However this was the second fire incident occurred in the same Hot
Strip Mill within two months span. Hot Strip Mill is said to be the
lifeline in BSL, which is a unit of Steel Authourity of India Limited

Affect in BSL production has a direct impact on SAIL profitability.
Earlier fire incident was occurred on March, 6, 2018. Then massive
fire engulfed three transformers installed at Hot Strip Mill causing
electricity crisis. Then also no casualty or injury was reported. BSL
had to face loss in crores with its production stalled for about 10
