Bokaro: Eight candidates who have done schooling from this city have cracked nation prestigious civil services examination this year. Bokaro known for its good number of schools and favorable atmosphere for studies is a native of many UPSC achievers. In past eight years span, 30 former students of different schools and residents of the town have cracked UPSC. This year, Abhilasha Abhinav bagged All India Rank 18th in the UPSC. She is a native of Patna but done her intermediate from Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro. Abhinav father, Bholanath Sarkar was an IPS and retired as superintendent of police (SP), Deoghar in Jharkhand. She had never gone to any coaching classes and achieved success through self-study. She has opted for Bihar cadre. Another student of DAV Public School, Lalpania, Abhilash Baranwal achieved 44 rank in the UPSC examination. Baranwal is a resident of Maoist prone Lalpania under Gomia Block. His father, Ashok Baranwal, is an official in Tenughat Thermal Power Station. Baranwal after doing intermediate from DPS, Bokaro, has pursued engineering from IIT, Dhanbad. He later joined Oil India Limited (OIL) as petroleum engineer. While working Baranwal appeared in UPSC examination and achieved 272 rank. Joining IRS services he continued his studies and scored 44 rank in fourth attempt. One more former student of DPS, Jai Kishan also qualified UPSC bagging 768th Rank. Another Abhisheikh Kumar who passed board examinations from Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS) has cracked UPSC with 133 rank. He stayed with his uncle Santosh Kumar Sinha, a teacher of GGPS in Bokaro. He is a native of Ramgarh. His father Dipak Kumar is a retired employee of Central Coalfield limited (CCL). Abisheikh is a mechanical engineer from IIT, Kharagpur. He to achieve his dream had left job after working in Tata Steel for two years. Yogesh Gautam who scored 172 rank in the UPSC examination has passed intermediate from Chinmaya Vidyalaya of the town. This was his third attempt. Gautam is a native of Begusarai Bihar and completed his Class X from DAV Public School, Giridih. He had done mining engineering from ISM Dhanbad. Later he worked in Mecon Limited. This was his fourth attempt. One more student Utsav Prasar of Chinmaya Vidyalaya scored 367 rank in civil services examination. He is native of Darbhanga and pursued intermediate from Chinmaya Vidyalaya. His father is a banker. Another girl Kumari Sunita bagged 269 rank in the civil services examination. She is a resident of Khedadih village of Bokaro. Her father Haripad Mahatha is a retired employee of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). She done her class 10 from Indian School of Learning and completed Class 12 from Pentecostal Assembly School. Sunita expressed her happiness, but said she is not satisfied with her performance and is planning to give another attempted next year. She aims of being an IAS which she will not achieved with 269 rank. Sunita did B.Tech from National Institute of Science and Technology, Beharampur, Odisha. After college, she joined SAP Lab in Bangalore and worked there for three years. Later she started preparation for UPSC and made it in second attempt. “Self study is a mantra of my success”. Her success has rejoiced villagers of Khedadih. People celebrated distributing sweets. Another resident of Kathara under Bermo Sub-Division, Pawan Kumar Yadav have cracked UPSC with 790 rank. This was his fifth attempt. His mother is an employee of Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) in Kathara. Yadav is presently working as assistant commandant in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He completed his Class X from Carmel School and then pursued intermediate DAV Public School, Kathara. He did his graduation from Delhi University and Post Graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Yadav said that their no substitute to hard work.
There are 30 candidates who cracked UPSC examination in past eight years in Bokaro. Year wise list is as follows:
2010- two candidates 2011- four 2012- four 2013- one 2014- four 2015- three 2016- two 2017- two 2018- eight
Of the UPSC achievers, majority are former students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro. Among 30 successful candidates in past span of eight yeats, 13 of them are ex-students of DPS. Chinmaya Vidyalaya has two students in 2018 while Pentecostal Assembly School and Indian School of learning has one. MGM Higher Secondary School, DAV Public School, Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS) and Bokaro Ispat Vidyalaya, has also had their former students in UPSC achievers list of Bokaro.
