Bokaro: Whether he is possessive or felt neglected but former MLA, Yogender Mahto gets furious if anyone ask’s Babita Devi, his wife and newly elected legislature, Gomia about development. Mahto facial expression changes if anyone gives more weightage to his wife. This was noticed outside the counting centre in Bokaro when Mahto lost temper before mediapersons when they come to interact with Devi after she won the seat. Reporters asked “what first work she will do now, after becoming MLA”.
Before Devi could give her statement, Mahto come ahead with a tense face and started shouting and waving his hands “Sab sawal aaj hi puchna hai. humse pucho, jo sawal puchna hai humse pucho. Bulao sab media ko, hum denge sabka jawab (is it required to ask all the questions today.
ask me, ask question from me. Call all the media, I will give answers to all)”. Yogender Mahto grabbed the media attention and started narrating the development work done by him in past three and half years. He asserted that the issue which remained unsolved in my tenure, will be solved by my wife. “Meri patni ab mere nakshekadam par chalkar adhure kaamo ko pura karegi. Ab humlog do sharir or char haath hai (My wife working on my line will solve the remaining problem. We are now two body with four hands),” said Yogender Mahto.
However Babita Devi was standing quietly seeing how Mahto is dealing. Sources said, that since Devi was declared winner, Mahto sounds to be overprotective and not living her alone in public. He is seen grabbing bouquets and replying to greetings on behalf of her. Mahto is growing more famous as ‘MLA-Pati’ than ‘former MLA’ of Gomia. Devi won the Gomia bypoll on JMM ticket by a very thin margin of 1344 votes from AJSU Lambodar Mahto.
Yogender Mahto, who lost legislatorship after convicted by a local court in a coal theft case, saw victory of his wife as his success in regaining the status. However Yogender Mahto is more educated than his wife. He is graduate while Babita Devi (39) is Class VI pass from a government school in Ramgarh.
