Ranchi: As Jharkhand witnesses the worst power crises since its formation, The Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu said that it is not possible to ensure the quality of life without electricity. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new building of UP Electricity Regulatory Commission, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh today.

The Vice President said that India’s economy and lifestyle are dependent of electricity, he added. He said that people must make efficient and effective use of electricity as it is not renewable. He also called on people to explore the possibility of new and renewable energy sources. “If electricity is to be given to every household, then it will have to be made so cheap that neither the consumer will be burdened”, he added.

The Vice President called for a relook into the way electricity has been viewed. He further said that it is time that one also considers regulating the demand for electricity apart from focusing on energy supply like production and distribution.

Meanwhile, the state capital is seeing regular blackout. “We are upgrading our system. We are introducing latest technology for distribution of power in the state. This needs time and so people will have to bear with the power cuts,” claimed an official of Jharkhand State Electricity Board.

Meanwhile, people cannot stop trolling JSEB on such occasion. A social media post read that while the world rejoices rain, the people of Jharkhand fear it as it means indefinite power cut.
