From Radio Jockey to Nurse and now an IAS

Thiruvananthapuram: From being a part time radio jockey, to qualifying as a nurse and now as a civil servant, the journey has been eventful for Annies Kanmani Joy, the first nurse from the country to pass the civil service exam in the 65th position.

Felicitated by the alumni association of the Government College of Nursing in Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram, she said she shared her success with her batch mates.

“I have entered IAS by chance and not by choice,” Ms Joy added, reflecting on the experience, which clearly made up for her previous one of being dismissed as a part-time radio jockey by a leading FM radio station in Kerala.

Egging on other nursing students to aim for the civil service too, she told them it was not just bookish knowledge that had helped her pass the exams.
