IMM, Ranchi’s First Session From June-July This Year – Bhargava
Ranchi: Maruti Udyog Limited’s former and the newly appointed Chairman of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) R. C. Bhargava announced that the first session of the Ranchi IIM would commence from June- July this year. All the children securing 95% and above in the 2009 CAT examination would be eligible to apply. Bhargava was addressing the media along with State’s HRD Secretary Mridula Sinha and IIM Kolkata’s Director Shekar Choudhary at the Soochna Bhavan in Ranchi on Friday.
Mr. Bhargava said that the first semester would be conducted at the Soochna Bhavan and would be shifted to the Hotwar Complex after the conclusion of the 34th National Games. He added that a minimum of 60 students would be admitted in the first year and the maximum capacity is earmarked at 80 in the inaugural year. Answering hastily to a question as to whether the National Games was acting as a hindrance to the IIM start, he said that it would be wrong to say. No doubt the Games have been postponed a few times but now since a duly elected government is ruling the State, the Games would be conducted on time. In the meantime the State Government is extending full support to us and has provided us with two huge halls at Soochna Bhavan to commence the session. The ATI complex has been also provided to the Institute for utilizing it as hostel for the students
On the infra-structure of the new IIM, Bhargava said that the students of Ranchi IIM would also be provided with the same study patter as that of other IIMs in the country. Facility of video conferencing has been added and the IIM, Kolkata would act as the mentor of the new IIM. The experienced faculty of IIM Kolkata would come to the Ranchi centre regularly to deliver lectures to the students
Mr. Bhargava clarified that all the reservation policies would be applicable as per the norms of Government of India and in force at all the IIMs of the country. There would be no separate reservation policy for Ranchi IIM and 95% cutoff in the 2009 CAT would be the general criteria.
