Ranchi: After the crucial meeting with the Centre’s Special DG Vijay Raman of CRPF, the State DGP Niyaz Ahmed said that the State police was ready for any operation against the Naxalites. He however reiterated his stand that there was nothing known as ‘Operation Green Hunt’ but a general process of preparing strategy to combat extremism in the State.

The DGP said that all preparations have been made and strategies planned. The police have been alerted about the operations and have been provided special training to the effect. A complete report on the action plan has been drafted and would be tabled in Kolkata during the meeting of all the States’ Chief Minister next week. Tentatively the operations are likely to commence on or after the 9th of this month, he added.

Centre is providing para-military assistance to the States involved in the anti-naxal operations and in Jharkhand 11 areas have been earmarked as sensitive and naxal infested. The para-military forces have started arriving in the State and at all the 11 places a base camp would be set up prior to the launch of offensive against the extremists.

Vijay Raman has been appointed as the Special DG by the Centre to oversee and supervise the operations against the naxals in the States where such action was being initiated and para-military forces sent. The Special DG arrived in Ranchi on Wednesday to hold meeting with the State’s senior Police officials and assess the preparations.
