Ranchi: The Ranchi Police registered a major break-through in busting the gang in fake admissions to the Medical as well as the renowned BIT, Mesra. The king-pin Biswajit Dey however managed to escape the clutches of the police. The gang charged from the victims anywhere between Rs. 5- 10 lakhs for assuring admissions to the medical college and the BIT in Ranchi.

Giving details of the arrests in the matter, city SP Shambu Thakur said that the matter came to light when some of the duped aspirants brought the matter to the notice of the police. The police then formulated an action plan with the Bariatu, Lalpur and Sadar police to lay a trap and arrest Biswajit Dey, the brain behind the dupings. A team was formed and the Chehire Home area raided, were the alleged king-pin was operating. Though Dey managed to escape his associates including goons with rifles and pistols and live cartridges were nabbed red handed. They were employed as ‘protectors’ to the king pin Dey. Important documents were seized during the raid on the premises. Most of the arrested were recruited from the Jehanabad district of Bihar disclosed the city SP.
