Ranchi: A drug operating gang was raided by the Ranchi police and brown Sugar worth Rs.15 lakhs seized from them. The raid was conducted by the Chutia police under the leadership of DSP (Hatia) Rajiv Ranjn Kumar said that the police were on the lookout for this gang and had laid the trap for their arrest. This gang was luring the youth of the city into drug addiction and the police were receiving regular complaints. The drug peddlers Sanjay and Bahadur Thapa were nabbed red-handed with 15 lakh worth of brown sugar.

The Hatia police under the DSP faked as customers to gain the confidence of the peddlers and laid the trap at the appropriate time. The arrest would prove to be a break through as the king pins of the trade operating in the city would also be nabbed soon. The SSP said that the banned drug was being sold in the international market at around Rs.20 lakh per kilogram. The SSP revealed that the prohibited drugs were mainly sourced from the Ara district of Bihar. The arrested persons, the Thapas were basically auto-rickshaw drivers and they made the trips to ARa to procure the drugs. Leading hotels like Capital Hill of Ranchi were amongst the main clients the arrested drug peddlers revealed. The culprits further revealed that small packets worth Rs.100 were made and pushed of to the school and college going youth, who formed the main clientele.
